ISO classes for Cleanrooms
Cleanrooms and related controlled environments are designed to manage airborne contamination to levels suitable for activities sensitive to such contamination. Industries that benefit from this level of control include aerospace, microelectronics, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, healthcare, and food production.
This section of ISO 14644 outlines the testing methods that can be employed to characterize a cleanroom, as detailed in other sections of ISO 14644.
NOTE: Not all testing procedures for cleanroom parameters are included in this section of ISO 14644. Additional procedures and equipment for characterizing other relevant parameters in cleanrooms and clean zones tailored for specific products or processes are addressed in other documents produced by ISO/TC 209. Examples include procedures for controlling and measuring viable materials (ISO 14698), assessing cleanroom functionality (ISO 14644-4), and testing separations.
