Boiler

Steam Boiler:

A steam boiler is a sealed container, typically constructed from steel, where water is heated using a heat source generated by fuel combustion, accordingly producing steam. This steam can be delivered at low pressure for various industrial processes, such as in cotton mills and sugar production, as well as for generating hot water that can be utilized in heating systems at lower pressures.

Steam:

Steam is the vapor produced when water transitions from a liquid to a gaseous state. At the molecular level, this occurs when H2O molecules break free from the hydrogen bonds that hold them together. In liquid water, these molecules are in a constant state of bonding and separation. However, as the water is heated, the bonds between the molecules begin to break more quickly than they can reform. Eventually, with sufficient heat, some molecules escape, resulting in the formation of the transparent gas known as steam, or more specifically, dry steam. Steam has a wide array of applications across various industries. It is commonly used in processes such as steam heating in plants and factories, as well as in steam-driven turbines in electric power generation, but its industrial uses extend well beyond these examples.

Type of Steam Boiler:-

         1) Fire tube boiler
         2) Water tube boiler

Fire tube boiler:- In a fire tube boiler, burned gases or fire are present inside the tubes, and water surrounds the tubes within the shell of the boiler. That's why it is called a fire tube boiler.

Water tube boiler: In this type of boiler, the setup is opposite to that of a fire tube boiler. In a water tube boiler, water is present inside the tubes, and smoke or fire is present in the shell of the boiler.

Water tube boilers are known for their ability to produce steam at higher pressures and temperatures, making them suitable for power plants and industries requiring high efficiency.

Fuel used for burning:-
   1) Furnace oil
   2) Natural gas
   3) coal fire
   4) Bagase fire
   5) Diesel

Comments

  1. Fusible plug prevents the overheating of the boiler tubes by extinguishing the fire when the water level falls below a particular level. A low water level alarm is mounted in the boiler to give a warning when the water level falls below the preset value.

How to control Temperature and Humidity in Air Handling Unit

How to control Temperature and Humidity in Air Handling Unit Overview Air Handling unit is a system used to supply temperature and Humidity controlled filtered air to the cleanroom. For air filtration various types of filters are used in AHU. And for temperature and Humidity controlling cooling and heating coils are provided in AHU. Goals Control the temperature of air used in the cleanroom  Control the humidity of air used in cleanroom  Air filters Specifications    The air Handling unit consists of Air filter  Cooling coil Heating coil Air blower HEPA Filter  Controlling of Temperature and Humidity  By Cooling Method  The cooling coil recirculates the chilled water having temperatures between 4°C to 6°C. This chilled water comes from the Chiller through centrifugal pumps. When we start the Air Handling unit blowers sucks the air through the pre filters of the air Handling unit. When blowers sucks air, it passes through the cooling co...

Why ice forms at cooling coil and Suction line in Refrigeration system

Why ice forms at cooling coil and Suction line in Refrigeration system       it's all about the relationship between a temperature and pressure and how the pressure affect the boiling point of the refrigerant. As the pressure of refrigerant increases then the temperature and boiling point also increases,  when pressure decreased temperature and boiling point also decreases. Refrigeration and air conditioning systems take use of it to cool the air or liquid.   Normal Refrigeration System      In normal refrigeration system compressor compresses the refrigerant which causes the increase in pressure and temperature of refrigerant. The hot vapour refrigerant pass through the condenser in condenser heat exchange happens and refrigerant condensate into liquid forms. Before entering in the evaporator high pressure liquid refrigerant pass through the expansion of valve. The actual device used depends on the Refrigeration system but capillary t...

HVAC Validation In pharma Industries

HVAC VALIDATION As per ISO guidelines for HVAC validation. In HVAC Validation  below points are determined and validated that they are in within range as per designed which will pass the respective ISO standard class acceptance criteria. 1)Air velocity and CFM calculation 2)Air changes per hour 3) Installed filter leakage test 4) HEPA filter integrity test 5)Air flow pattern test or smoke test 6)Partical count test 7)Total variable count 8) Temperatur and pressure monitoring 9) Temperature and Humidity recovery test 10) Fresh air calculation All this points are determined recorded in documents. All this validation process done by validation contractors under observation of respective company Engineer. 1) Air velocity and CFM calculation :-   - Scan the area of the HEPA filter with probe of anemometer 6 inches from the filter face. - For accurate velocity take the velocity of air at five place of filters ( Four corners and centre of filter) - Record the air velocity i...
