Cooling Tower
Cooling tower is a typical cooling methodology where air and water come into direct contact to reduce the temperature of the water. In this case, the temperature of the water flowing through the tower decreases by observing the air temperature while this process evaporate small amount of water.
Heated water from industrial processes or air-cooled condensers is pumped through pipes into the cooling water pipes. The water is sprayed through nozzles into objects called "collectors", which allow the water to flow through the cooling air and disperse as much water as possible into the water. As the water passes through the cooling tower, it is exposed to the air, which is drawn through the tower by fans driven by an electric motor. When water and air meet, a small amount of water evaporates and a cool atmosphere is created. The cooled water is then sent back to the condenser or workpiece where it absorbs heat. It must then be return supplied back to cooling tower to cool further.

Types:-
2) Mechanical Draft cooling tower:-
- In induced draft cooling towers, cooling tower placed at the upside of
the tower, Fan draw the air upside through the PVC or wooden fills. The worm water is sprinkled
over the fill from the top, and the air moves upward side through the fills, it evaporates small amount of
the water.
- In Forced draft cooling towers, Fans are fixed at the bottom of tower and air blown upward to the cooling tower through the fill. The worm water is sprinkled over the fills, and as the air moves upward, it cools the water through evaporation.
2) Natural draft cooling tower :- The hot water which is to be cooled comes from the heat exchanges pumped to top of cooling tower by Pumps. Hot water spray nozzles connected in series to spray water from top which spray hot water from top and the fresh air is Induced by the open structure of cooling tower i.e. chimney due to pressure difference effect. That fresh air comes from the bottom of cooling tower. Heat exchange done between the fresh air and hot water. Some of the water is evaporated and cold water collected at the bottom of cooling tower.
History:-
Cooling Tower oriented in 19th century through the development of condenser for steam engine.
